Janet Waltz
Artist Statement
Janet grew up in Missouri and has spent her entire adult life in northern California. She is number five in an artistic family of eleven very talented children. Her father was an artist, and her mother was an accomplished pianist.
Janet attended West Valley College and San Jose State University where she studied electrical engineering and art, earning a degree in electrical engineering. She worked for Hewlett Packard for 26 years before retiring and pursuing her passion for art full time. She then studied photography at Yuba College and Sacramento State University.
Janet has always had a deep interest in art and has worked in many different mediums. Her art is continually evolving as she experiments with different mediums and is always looking for something new to try.
Janet currently leases a suite in the historic Eleventh and L Building located in downtown Sacramento, directly across from the state capitol where she owns the Artbeat Gallery Studio and Gift Shop. She entered into this project in 2017 with the hope that she could support and encourage both emerging artists as well as the very well-seasoned experts who otherwise may not have the opportunity to explore and exhibit the artwork that comes from their hearts. Janet currently has an amazing group of artists exhibiting their work right next to hers and volunteering their time to help when the gallery is open to the public. She celebrates their success when their artwork sells and encourages them to try different mediums and styles.
Janet and her husband Stephen maintain their gallery in Sacramento in an effort to give back to the community in a significant way and to have a positive impact on every individual that comes through their doors.
